• Chamber Announces 67.8 Million Riyal Project Budget For 2009

    Abdur-Rahman ibn Rashid Al-Rashid, the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Asharqia Chamber, announced that the Chamber's approved project budget for the current year 2009 is 67.8 million riyals. Adding that the investment project in Jubail will cost 33 million riyals in addition to the multi-purpose hall that will cost 12 million riyals. Also, construction of the Chamber's new branch in Hafr Al-Batin will cost10 million riyals.

    Al-Rashid said during the recent general assembly meeting of Chamber members that the assembly was taking place during changing global circumstances very different from previous years. Adding that the strength and robustness of our national economy is due to the wise leadership of our rulers in governing the country. 

    Al-Rashid thanked the members of the Board of Directors for their support in developing and upgrading the performance of the Chamber, and in furthering of its role in serving the national economy. 

    During 2008 the Chamber managed many accomplishments. The Chamber's total cash holdings in banks were 72.9 million riyals, compared to 67.6 million riyals in 2007. Total assets amounted to 63.4 million riyals, compared to 51.3 million riyals in 2007. Total income rose to 82 million riyals, compared with 72.2 million riyals in 2007. Expenses totaled 66 million riyals, compared to 56 million riyals in 2007. And the annual surplus was 15.2 million riyals, compared to 15.8 million riyals in 2007. 

    The number of Chamber members stood at more than 38 thousand in 2008, compared to around 32 thousand in 2007, and just 18 thousand in 2003. The network of service centers and branches of the Chamber at end of the month of April 2009 stood at 15 with the addition of the new service center in Dammam.
